Fractional CTO for founders and growing teams
Technical leadership without the full-time hire.
A fractional CTO gives you senior technical leadership without the cost and commitment of a full-time executive. I take that role for a small number of companies at a time, and I work as part of your team rather than as an outside reviewer.
My background is hands-on. I have built software at IBM, Verafin and Amazon, and I run Ltiora, where I am technical CEO. That means the advice I give comes from shipping and operating systems, not from slide decks.
Who this is for
- Founders who need a technical decision-maker before the first big engineering hires
- Teams choosing between building and buying, or between competing architectures
- Companies that want an AI strategy that holds up against real budgets and real traffic
- Leaders who want a second opinion they can trust on hiring and technical direction
What it involves
- We agree the technical questions that matter most and the outcome you want from them
- Architecture and build-vs-buy decisions, written down so your team can act on them
- A hiring bar and interview approach for the engineers you will need
- A weekly leadership cadence with your team, so decisions keep moving
Questions
What does a fractional CTO do?
A fractional CTO provides part-time senior technical leadership: architecture, technology choices, hiring standards and AI strategy, without a full-time executive hire.
Do you take on every engagement?
No. I take engagements selectively and scope them around outcomes. The best way to start is a short email describing the problem.
Do you work with AI products specifically?
Yes, AI is a large part of my work, including agents, retrieval, voice and evaluation, but leadership engagements cover the whole technical picture.
